7/29/2026 · Kitco News

Geopolitical uncertainty continues over weekends, driving investors toward CME Group's new 24/7 one-ounce gold futures. The debut weekend saw 15,000 contracts traded, representing roughly $60 million in notional value. Jin Hennig, Managing Director and Global Head of Metals at CME Group, stated the launch proves retail traders were eager for always-available, regulated and properly sized products to manage gold exposure. Launched in January 2025, the contract posted an average daily volume of 87,000 contracts in the first half of 2026. Gold futures overall reached a record $125 billion in average daily notional value, while the metals business hit 1.3 million contracts daily, up 55% year over year.
