Gold's Rebound Above $4,000: Enough to Repair the Market? Michele Schneider Questions

11/5/2026 · Kitco News

After a sharp selloff, gold has reclaimed the $4,000 level, but strategist Michele Schneider cautions that substantial technical damage still requires repair. In a Kitco News interview, she noted that $4,000 could serve as an entry point, yet gold and silver markets appear broken, leaving her with no positions after exiting in August.

Despite persistent inflation, rising debt and geopolitical risks, gold has lost its safe-haven appeal, shown by last week’s drop of more than 3% while yields fell below 5% and the dollar weakened. Schneider said, “The flight to safety in gold has been broken,” with bonds now drawing investors instead.

She views $3,940 as critical support; a break could send prices to $3,500 or even $2,500. A move back above $4,000 might allow a tactical long with tight risk controls around $20–$30. For silver she sees interest near $35, adding: “Neither one of these metals look particularly interesting to me. To me, I feel like gold and silver are guilty until proven innocent.”
