10/22/2026 · Kitco News

Russia disposed of 200,000 ounces, or 6.2 tonnes, of gold during September, as reported by the Bank of Russia. This transaction reduced the nation's gold reserves to 2,264 tonnes, marking the lowest point since late 2019. The ongoing sales represent the biggest prolonged reduction in holdings since the 1998 crisis, with about 62 tonnes liquidated since December 2025 to cover a growing budget shortfall.
